Lisa Ficarelli-Halpern’s work makes the viewer stop and take notice. While her paintings and prints are highly skilled and seemingly traditional in technique, Ficarelli-Halpern inserts an unexpected, often playful, or decorative element.

Trained in surface design as an undergraduate at Parsons School of Design, and earning her MFA in painting from New Jersey City University, Lisa blends painterly expression with a compelling interest in textiles. She has recently begun to explore printmaking on paper as a counterpart to her paintings.

Selected as one of seventy-seven artists to represent the medium of painting at the College Art Association National Exhibit, “WetPaint 2010,” in Chicago, Illinois, her work has also been widely exhibited in several one artist exhibitions and group juried shows in New York and New Jersey. Her work has been featured in Studio Visit Magazine, Volume 10, Spring, 2010. She is the recipient of a 2006 Geraldine Dodge Fellowship Award.

Prior to her fine art career, Lisa Ficarelli-Halpern served as an executive designer for Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation, from 1985 to 1992, where she oversaw all aspects of home collection design, most prominently in the areas of bedding and decorative fabrics.
