Artist's Bio

Lisa Ficarelli-Halpern is an American figurative artist living and working within the New York metropolitan area. She received her BFA in surface design from Parsons The New School For Design, and earned her MFA in painting from New Jersey City University. Prior to receiving her graduate degree in fine art, Lisa served as an executive designer for the Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation for eight years, overseeing all areas of home design, with particular emphasis on textile products. 

Her work has been shown extensively in galleries and museums, including the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art in Wisconsin, the Zhou B. Art Center in Chicago, and the Noyes Museum, the Monmouth Museum, and the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. Her painting, “King, after van Eyck,” ©2016 was the banner image for the 14C Art Fair in Jersey City in February 2020. Her work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur, Poets and Artists, Freshpaint and Studio Visit Magazines. She has won numerous awards, including a 2022 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship, a 2018 residency at Chateau Orquevaux in Champagne-Ardenne, France, a 2016 Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation residency at Mana Contemporary Art in Jersey City, and a 2006 Geraldine Dodge Fellowship. She has taught at Brookdale Community College, Seton Hall University, and is currently on the faculty at New Jersey City University.
